It is with mixed feelings of sadness and joy that I am writing to let you know of my intention to close my office for the practice of surgery as of May 29, 2020.

I would recommend you start looking now for a physician to take care of your needs. Your medical records are confidential and will remain in my possession. If you want to have your medical records released to you or to another physician of you choice, notify me by email at You will need to sign an authorization form before I can release your medical records. Please note that I cannot share your medical information without your written consent.

The goal of our physician and staff is to provide quality, comprehensive care to patients afflicted with problems of the colon and rectum. The patient is the focus for all decisions-medical and economical-because restoring and maintaining your health and well-being is our common goal.

In keeping with our mission of patient-centered care, we place prime importance on the physician-patient relationship. We encourage open communication about your medical care to allow changes and to improve results. In addition, Dr. Ramos provides comprehensive general surgical care.


Thank you for choosing Digestive Surgery Center. To request an appointment with Dr. Raul Ramos, please call us at (210) 614-1600 and one of our staff members will schedule your appointment. We may have same day appointments available if you call us in the morning. 

If you are a new patient of Dr. Ramos, please visit our New Patients page and fill up the form we provide. Once you submit the form to us, you can review and download the paperwork available in PDF format on the right side, print it and bring it with you as completed as possible to your appointment.

We know your time is important, and it is our intention to honor all appointments promptly. Occasionally, however, an emergency or hospital delay will occur. For this reason we may need to postpone or reschedule your appointment. When you call us, please provide us with a daytime telephone number at which you can be reached. If you are unable to do so, please call our office before leaving for you appointment.


You will be asked to complete pre-registration forms before your first visit. Please bring these completed forms with you along with your insurance card or other information. 

If you are part of a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), you should have authorization from your Primary Physician before you see our physicians. Your Primary Physician may (a) give this written authorization directly to you or (b) call our office with the authorization.

Appointment Apparel

If you are coming to our office for an examination, you will want to wear loose, comfortable clothing that easily slips off and on. This type of apparel does not include jumpsuits.
